ACCURATE CALCIUM HARDNESS TESTING
 
The Taylor K-1770 Calcium Hardness Test Kit provides accurate drop-count testing for calcium hardness in swimming pool and spa water.
 
Using an EDTA titration method, the kit measures calcium hardness in precise 10 ppm increments. This provides a considerably more useful result than broad-range test strips when balancing pool or spa water.
 
WHY TEST CALCIUM HARDNESS?
 
Maintaining the correct calcium hardness level helps protect pool surfaces, plumbing and equipment.
 
Calcium hardness that is too high can contribute to cloudy water, calcium scale, restricted circulation and reduced heater efficiency. Levels that are too low can result in aggressive water that may damage concrete, plaster, grout and metal components.

HOW TO USE
 
Rinse the supplied test vial with the water being tested.
Fill the vial to the 25mL mark.
Add 20 drops of Taylor R-0010 Calcium Buffer and swirl.
Add 5 drops of Taylor R-0011L Calcium Indicator and swirl. The sample will turn red when calcium hardness is present.
Add Taylor R-0012 Hardness Reagent one drop at a time, swirling and counting each drop.
Continue until the sample changes from red to blue.
Multiply the number of R-0012 drops used by 10 to determine the calcium hardness in ppm.
 
Always follow the instructions supplied with the test kit. Store reagents upright in a cool location away from direct sunlight and replace any reagents that have expired or become contaminated.
